Research Focus

nanoBiotechnology

Our research focuses on the synthesis of different nanostructures and its composite for application in the areas of biology to environmental remediation. We are currently working on the preparation of rattle like metal nanostructures and 2D based nanomaterials for SERS based sensing and photothermal therapy.

About Lab

The AJ NanoBio Lab is a dynamic research hub focused on using nanotechnology to solve important problems in health, the environment, and materials science. Our team designs and tests new materials that are incredibly small—often working with nanoparticles and thin films—to develop sensors that quickly detect chemicals, bacteria, or pollution in the environment. We also use these nanomaterials in medicine, creating targeted ways to deliver drugs that help treatments work better with fewer side effects, and we explore how tiny materials can help wounds heal faster or fight off infections. The lab is equipped with modern tools to study how these tiny materials behave, and we work closely with hospitals and industry to bring safe, effective solutions from the lab to real-world use.

Lab Workings

Metal Nanostructures/Sensors

The lab explores the design and fabrication of metal nanostructures with tailored properties for advanced sensing applications. By manipulating the size, shape, and composition of nanoparticles, the team develops highly sensitive and selective sensors capable of detecting chemical and biological substances at extremely low concentrations. These nanostructures enhance signal transduction mechanisms, enabling rapid, accurate, and portable sensing platforms useful in environmental monitoring, healthcare diagnostics, and industrial process control.

Nanomedicine/Enviormental Remediation

Research in nanomedicine focuses on developing nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems that improve therapeutic efficacy and reduce side effects. The lab innovates multifunctional nanoparticles for targeted cancer therapy and imaging. In parallel, the group applies nanotechnology to environmental remediation, creating nanoscale materials that can efficiently remove pollutants such as heavy metals, organic contaminants, and pathogens from water and soil, supporting sustainable and cleaner ecosystems.

Antimicrobials/Woundhealing

The lab develops advanced antimicrobial nanomaterials with potent activity against resistant pathogens to tackle infections effectively. These nanomaterials are incorporated into wound dressings and topical formulations to promote faster healing by combining antimicrobial action with enhanced tissue regeneration. The research integrates nanostructured platforms to accelerate healing processes, minimize scarring, and improve patient outcomes in chronic and acute wound care.
